Adding images to a post or page in WordPress can be overwhelming, especially when you are fairly new to using WordPress.
Do I Need To Resize Images Before Adding to a Page?
Yes. Using a word processing program, like Word, will allow you to add an image to a page and resize it right there on the page. But, adding images to a web page or post is a completely different process. You can resize it after you add it, yes! But, the code keeps the file size the same and sometimes will not react the way you want. And, it will slow the page from loading.
What is the Recommend File Sizes for Websites?
The most important file size for images is the resolution. When you print an image, to get it really crisp, you need an image with a 300 dpi resolution. But, that’s too large for web. The resolution for web images is 72 dpi.
Width and height can vary, based on if it’s a horizontal or vertical image. I usually use a maximum of 1000 px wide on horizontal.
